Wilid soils are on plains and <br />interfluves in N LRA 69. Slopes range from 0 to 12 percent. The mean annual precipitation is about 305 <br />millimeters (12 inches). The mean annual temperature is about 11 degrees C (52 degrees F). <br />TAXONOMIC CLASS: Fine -silty, mixed, superactive, mesic Ustic Calciargids <br />TYPICAL PEDON: Wilid silt loam, nearly level slope in rangeland at an elevation of 1601 meters (5,250 feet). <br />(Colors are for dry soil unless otherwise noted). <br />A - -O to 15 cm (0 to 6 inches); pale brown (1 OYR 6/3) silt loam, brown (1 OYR 4/3) moist; weak fine granular <br />structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; many very fine and fine roots; slight <br />effervescence; slightly alkaline (pH 7.8); clear smooth boundary. (5 to 15 cm thick) <br />Bt - -15 to 25 cm (6 to 10 inches); pale brown (1 OYR 6/3) silty clay loam, brown (I OYR 4/3) moist; moderate <br />medium subangular blocky structure; moderately hard, firm, moderately sticky and moderately plastic; common <br />very fine and fine roots; few very fine pores; 30 percent distinct clay films on all faces ofpeds; violent <br />effervescence; 7 percent calcium carbonate equivalent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.2); clear smooth boundary. <br />Btk - -25 to 76 cm (10 to 30 inches); pale brown (10YR 6/3) silty clay loam, brown (10YR 5/3) moist; <br />moderate medium subangular blocky stricture; very hard, firm, moderately sticky and moderately plastic; few <br />very fine roots; few very fine pores; 30 percent distinct clay films on all faces ofpeds; 1 percent medium distinct <br />carbonate masses throughout; violent effervescence; 8 percent calcium carbonate equivalent; moderately alkaline <br />(pH 8.2); clear smooth boundary. (Combined thickness of Bt and Btk horizons is 28 to 84 cm) <br />Bkl - -76 to 112 cm (30 to 44 inches); pale brown (1 OYR 6/3) silty clay loam, brown (1 OYR 5/3) moist; weak <br />medium subangular blocky structure; very hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; few very fine roots; <br />common very fine pores; 5 percent medium carbonate masses throughout; violent effervescence; 17 percent <br />calcium carbonate equivalent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.2); clear wavy boundary.
