Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has sub- mitted a complete application for a permit revision to the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety for its approved Bowie No. 2 Mine, mining permit no. C- 1996 -083. The proposed revision (PR -14) will in- corporate the Spruce Stomp Fed- eral Coal Lease (COC- 75916) into the permit. The federal coal lease will allow Bowie to mine eight ad- ditional longwall panels north of the existing mining area. The minefacilities are located north of Bowie Road near the town of Bowie, CO. A pump station, three sediment ponds, the unit train Ioadout and a coal mine waste pile are located south of Bowie Road. The Fire Mountain Canal is located south of the mine facilities and north of the unit train Ioadout. The North Fork of the Gunnison River is located south of the mine permit boundary. The mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Sur- vey 7.5 minute Bowie Quadrangle map within the following sections. The new Bowie No. 2 Mine permit will contain 10,987.2 acres of land, 5,723.9 acres of private surface and 5,263.3 acres of Federal surface. The affected area proposed by this revision will be within 100 feet, measured horizontally, of the out- side right -of -way line of Stevens Gulch Road in the following areas.
