T. Bird, GCC Energy, LLC
AHR Review — 2011, 2012 & 2013
21- Apr -2014
1. If GCC wishes to continue with the July -to -June time frame, please submit an
application to revise the permit (King I Section 2.04.7p. I and King II Section
2.05.6 p. 4) to include that information. Alternatively, GCC can shift to the
standard water year identified in (b), above.
(c) A hydrologic report shall be submitted to the Division annually with the date of submittal
determined in consultation with the perittee.
There is a discrepancy between the King I and King II permits as to when the AHR will
be submitted to the Division. King I says, "during the month of July" (2.04.7 p. 1); King
II says, "by February 15 of the following calendar year" (2.05.6 p. 4).
2. Please submit a revision to the permit to clam when the AHR will be
submittedt The date selection should also take into consideration the reporting
year addressed in (b) above
(c)(iii) [The AHR shall contain], if required by the Division, a written interpretation of the data
and identification of mining related impacts to the hydrologic balance.
The King II permit (2.05.6 p. 4) commits GCC to submitting an AHR compiling and
interpreting the hydrologic data. Data for the King I and King II mines has been
compiled and reported, as required, but the Division did not find a section of the AHR
which provides an interpretation of the data.
3. With AHR submittals for future years, please provide a written interpretation of
the data, including the identification (f any) of mining related impacts to the
hydrologic balance.
This concludes the Division's review of the AHRs submitted in 2011, 2012 and 2013. A copy of
the AHR checklist is attached, for your reference.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Marcia L. Talvitie, P.E.
Enclosure (1)
cc: Sandy Brown, DRMS
