Cunningham
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St. Room 215
Denver CO 80203
Capital Prize Mine Applications for Permits
Dear Mr. Cunningham:
This is a follow -up to my phone conversations to put my objections in writing. My house is
adjacent to the mine property on the east side at the bottom of the hill. My husband and I bought
the house in 1990. He is deceased. I anticipate that it will be a family vacation home into the
future.
This area is zoned residential and is also designated as a national historical site. I do not
understand why anyone would buy a mine and expect to operate commercial enterprizes there.
I have heard that the mine was re- opened in the 1960's for a short time. With that exception, it
has been dormant for more than a 100 years. If the site became commercial property now, it
would deprive residents of their expectation of peaceful possession.
I urge the department to deny the permits.
Very truly yours,
Do red B.
