Our office has reviewed the submitted materials.
This mine is associated with the historic King Mine (5DT.1053), which was determined to be
eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
The proposed expansion of Pond D would require the demolition of the Coal Sales building,
which is a contributing feature of the historic King Mine. This would have an adverse effect on
the National Register - eligible King Mine.
The 1995 survey of the King Mine area did not identify any significant resources in the area of
the proposed relocated diversion ditches. However, since the work will involve earth- moving
activities, it is possible that historic and /or prehistoric resources could be uncovered during the
course of work.
If you have any questions, please contact Joseph Saldibar, Architectural Services Manager, at
(303 866 -3741.
Sin ely,
E rd C.
