approved additives. <br />3. Asphalt tackifier is not acceptable. <br />G. Bonded Fiber Matrix <br />Bonded fiber matrix shall be Soil Guard, as manufactured by Mat, Inc. or reviewed equal. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 PREPARATION <br />A. General: In all disturbed areas, topsoil is to be salvaged and replaced at a nominal 4" depth. If a <br />topsoil deficiency exists, topsoil shall be imported. On slopes steeper than 3:1 (h:v) topsoil shall <br />be no deeper than 4 ". <br />B. Prior to any revegetation activity, the topsoil shall be lightly compacted by means of "walking" the <br />slope vertically with a dozer to create a cleated track compaction. Slopes flatter than 2:1 shall be <br />tilled into an even and loose seed bed 4" deep. Slopes 2:1 or steeper shall be left in a roughened <br />condition will result in seed pockets and lightly compacted soil. Slopes shall be free of clods, <br />sticks, stones, debris, concrete, and asphalt in excess of 4" in any dimension, and brought to the <br />desired line and grade. <br />C. Sod: Preparatory to sodding, all irregularities in the ground surface shall be removed. Sticks, <br />stones, debris and other similar material more than 1/2 inch in diameter shall be removed. Any <br />objectionable depressions or other variances from a smooth grade shall be corrected. Areas to be <br />sodded shall be smooth before any sodding is done. <br />3.2 APPLICATION <br />A. Premeasurement: <br />Areas for treatment shall be premeasured in order to uniformly apply materials. <br />B. Native Seed: <br />1. Seeding shall be accomplished within 24 hours of tilling at the rate of 100 lbs. PLS /acre or <br />approximately 1 pound PLS /450 square feet. All slopes flatter that 2:1 shall be seeded by <br />mechanical power drawn drills followed b packer wheels or drag chains. Mechanical power <br />drawn drills shall have depth bands set to maintain a planting depth of at least 1/4" and shall be <br />set to space the row no more than 7" apart. On slopes steeper than 2:1 the seed shall be <br />sown with an approved broadcast -type seeder or by hydraulic seeding. <br />2. Seeding Period and Maintenance: Seeding in areas that are not irrigated shall be <br />accomplished before May 15th or after August 15th. Areas in which there is not a satisfactory <br />stand shall be reseeded to provide acceptable revegetation. Seed shall not be sown during <br />windy weather or when the ground is frozen or otherwise untillable. <br />C. Lawn Seed: Seeding shall be accomplished by means of an approved broadcast -type seeder at a <br />rate of 1 lb. per 300 sq. ft. PLS. The seeded area shall then be raked to provide about 1/4 inch of <br />cover over the seed unless hydraulic broadcasting and mulching is used. Seed shall not be sown <br />during windy weather or when the ground is frozen or otherwise untillable. <br />The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining and watering seeded lawn areas for a period of <br />Revegetation <br />2821 -3 <br />
