reference point to the cover performance standards. A line that indicates 90 percent of
this estimate standard has been placed on Figure 1a.
Production: Production data were not collected in 2013 because of the early age of the
revegetated areas.
Woody Plant Density: There is no standard for woody plant density in the Hayden
Gulch Loadout permit.
Climatic Data
Precipitation data was obtained from the NOAA administered Western Regional climate
Center (WRCC) for the nearby town of Hayden (Station 053867). For years 1990
through 2008, precipitation data were collected at the Seneca IIW Mine. For years
1982 through 1989, SCC provided precipitation data from the nearby Seneca II Mine.
Since the data record for Seneca IIW exists for only a relatively short period, the long
term average monthly precipitation data from the Western Regional Climate Center
(WRCC) for the nearby town of Hayden was used as an appropriate base for
comparison. Information on degree-days was also based on temperature data from the
Hayden station.
RESULTS
Sample data from the 2013 interim revegetation monitoring studies are presented in
Table 1. Cover data from 1998 Sagebrush/Rabbitbrush Area are presented in Table 2.
Sampling data are summarized in Table 3 and provide a reference standard estimate
for comparison. Data on species density by lifeform are tabulated in Table 4. Data
on relative cover by lifeform are compiled in Table 5. The list of plant species observed
during these studies is included as Table 6. Photographs of representative locations
within the reclaimed and reference areas sampled in 2013 are included in Appendix 3.
Graphs of vegetation and climate data are presented in Figures 1 through 8.
In the cover descriptions below, species listed as “also present” were not “hit” during
point-intercept sampling but were present within one meter of either side of the 50 m.
5
