DRMS PERMIT NO. M- 1980 -110
112 AMENDMENT APPLICATION
EXHIBIT E — RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General.
This Reclamation Plan addresses the final disposition of the Henderson Pit (Sandy Acres)
almost 20 years after mining ceased.
The purpose of this reclamation plan is to describe the process of returning the land to a stable
condition compatible with the Authority's land use plans for this area. The Authority does not
plan any future commercial development for this site.
There is a triangular shaped area in the north -east corner of the permit area that was used to
build the E -470 highway in 2003. This is the final post mining land use for this approx. 20 acres
of the total permit area of approx. 70 acres.
The remaining permit area's post mining land use shall be pasture land.
The Authority plans to transport inert fill material, by conveyor and other hauling methods, to fill
Sandy Acres lake. The Authority will issue a bid package for the work and contract to have the
work done starting in fall 2014 and completed by the end of 2015.
The Authority has reached agreement with Brannan Sand and Gravel to supply the inert fill
material required to fill the lake. The Authority's contractor will use a system of conveyor belts to
transport the fill material from the west side of Nome Street to the east side via a concrete box
culvert to be installed by the contractor. The contractor will then haul or convey the material into
the lake and slowly fill the void created by historic mining. Contractor shall use a combination of
front end loaders and other earth moving equipment to load and unload the fill material on either
end of the conveyor belt system.
The contractor construction activities shall be limited to the permit area. The contractor shall be
responsible for repairing any excessive damage to non -work areas. The surface footprint of the
fill operation will be minimized to the extent practical.
No contaminated soils are expected. All the material used to fill the lake will be provided by
Brannan's inert fill material. The fill material that will be used is "wash fines" which is comprised
of small sized particles less than 5mm. This material is left over after the virgin rock has been
excavated, then crushed, washed and screened to extract the commercially usable aggregate.
Contractor shall use stabilized construction entrances (vehicle tracking pads) to prevent tracking
of dirt or mud onto the roadway.
The Authority intends to demolish the abandoned buildings on the east side of Nome Street.
These buildings are owned by the E-470 Public Highway Authority. This will be probably be
done under a different contract from the lake filling contract.
APR 0 G 2014
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
