Pete Lien &Sons, Inc.
Owl Canyon Complex
Weed Control Plan
Purpose:
This weed control plan is to meet the guidelines as defined in the Colorado State Noxious Weed Act and
the Larimer County Weed District. The purpose is to protect effectively against designated noxious weeds
on the Owl Canyon Quarry Complex owned and operated by Pete Lien & Sons, Inc. The noxious weeds
under the Colorado State Noxious Weed Act have been identified and provided as lists in Appendix A to
this plan (See Appendix A). List A noxious weeds are to be eradicated upon discovery. List B noxious
weeds will be eradicated, contained,or suppressed as appropriate. List C noxious weeds will be managed
as appropriate to the site.
Monitoring:
Pre-treatment monitoring consists of a properly trained representative for the site will, at a minimum,
seasonally inspect the facility for presence of noxious weeds as defined in Lists A,B,and C. The monitoring
season is defined as early spring (i.e. April) and on a monthly basis until summer (i.e. September). Upon
discovery of noxious weeds, Pete Lien & Sons, Inc. will coordinate treatment by a properly trained and
licensed weed abatement contractor.
Post-treatment monitoring will continue through the monitoring season to assess effectiveness of
treatment. If treatment was unsuccessful, an adaptive management approach may be applied.
Treatment:
A properly trained and licensed individual will apply the initial treatment for noxious weeds. The initial
control measure will be a properly applied chemical treatment. If adaptive management is required, this
could include a combination of chemical, mechanical, and biological treatment approaches.
Commitment:
Pete Lien &Sons, Inc. is dedicated to meeting the requirements as defined in the Colorado State Noxious
Weed Act and the Larimer County Weed District Noxious Weed Management Plan for the life of the mine.
