accordance with the approved post - mining land use. It also facilitates similar management
for both the ERA and revegetated areas for bond release evaluations during Phase II bond
release and the last two years of the liability period (Phase III).
8. The SL -5 bond release application has been revised to address species diversity and
composition based on the 2009 Vegetation Monitoring Report. An analysis and short
discussion of the test completed are included in the revised application text.
Water Quality — Total Suspended Solids (TSS) Monitoring Results
9. Response:
a. The CDRMS requested total suspended solids (TSS) data for Pond 005. The data for
Pond 005 from 2008 — 2012 (same time frame as previously submitted data) is:
i. Pond 005: 10 mg/1(average) —11.0 mg/1(maximum)
ii. TSS values and a statistical summary are attached.
b. The CDRMS requested TSS values for the receiving stream (Sage Creek) upstream of
Ponds 009 and 005. Recent data from Sage Creek upstream of these ponds would be
affected by discharges from the Yoast Mine, which exists upstream of Seneca II -W
Mine discharges. Rather than providing recent data, more relevant would be the
historic data from Sage Creek prior to discharges from the Yoast Mine. TSS data
provided here is from Steam Site YSS2 from 1991 to 1999:
i. Site YSS2: 29 mg/1(average) —118.0 mg/1(maximum)
ii. In addition to the Sage Creek data, SCC has monitoring data for the tributaries
prior to the construction of the sediments ponds. For Pond 009, the baseline
monitoring data is from Site WSS3 (aka, SW- S2W -SG3) :
1. Site WSS3: 92.6 mg/1(average) — 1,180.0 mg/l (maximum)
iii. For Pond 015, the baseline monitoring data is from Site WSSC1 (aka, SW-
S2W -CG1):
1. Site WSSC1: 201.8 mg/1(average) — 8,225.0 mg/1(maximum)
iv. TSS values and a statistical summary are attached.
