100 sq. m. (Note: the above probability adjusted standard was used for each
reference area type and the resulting values were weight averaged to determine
the applied standard)
Since the Phase II bond release area value was greater than the standard, Alternative
Test B is passed for the 2009 sampling data.
• Alternative Test C, the similarity index between the lifeform species density values
for the prescribed lifeforms for the bond release area and the Mean Species density
(Area - weighted) in the 5 reference areas is 79 %, exceeding 90% of the standard of
67.5°/x.
Hence Alternative Test C is passed for the 2009 sampling data.
• Alternative Test D, the total number of native species encountered in the first
twenty -five samples of the bond release area that constituted an adequate cover
sample was 80, substantially greater than the weighted reference area average species
density (25.3).
The 2009 Phase II sampling results used in the Testing for Revegetation Success for
Phase II Bond Release is contained in Attachment E, Revegetation Supporting
Documentation.
Water Quality — Total Suspended Solids (TSS) Monitoring Results
The Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) permit has a TSS limit of 35 mg/1
(monthly average) and a 70 mg/1 daily limit that cannot be exceeded. Water quality
statistics have been run for the five (5) ponds that discharge off -site. The statistics were
compiled for the previous five (5) year period and show the following results:
Pond 006: 11.5 mg/l (average) —21.0 mg/l (maximum)
Pond 009: <5.0 mg/l (average) — <5.Omg/1(maximum)
Pond 015: 8.0 mg/l (average) — 14.0 mg/l (maximum)
Pond 016: 7.8 mg/l (average) —14.0 mg/l (maximum)
Pond 017: 10.4 mg/l (average) — 21.0 mg/l (maximum)
In addition the background levels for the receiving streams upstream of the confluences
are significantly higher than the discharges from the Phase II request area.
The monitoring results show that the TSS standard/requirements do not exceed the
criteria limits set by the State of Colorado. Supporting data sheets are contained in
Attachment F, Water Quality Monitoring Results.
SL -5 -8
