New Horizon Mine Irrigation Specifications for the Morgan Property
Farming is not an exact science. Irrigation equipment, available water and other inputs are
necessary to obtain the best production from farm property. The irrigation equipment specified
below is intended to provide irrigation to the Morgan Property in an efficient manner. The
equipment may be modified as necessary to manage differing weather and crop conditions.
The Morgan Property consists about 140 acres (about 107 acres mine permit area and 33 acres
adjacent to the mine permit area). This irrigation plan covers about 138 acres. There are 62
shares of CCC water available for this irrigation plan. Calculations for determining water
volume are that 32 %2 shares are equal to about 1 CFS or 444 GPM. Therefore, 62 shares are
equal to 1.88 CFS or 837 GPM. The irrigation water season lasts for 180 day and provides a
total of about 412 acre feet of water depending on weather and crop conditions. The estimated
water requirement for the Morgan Property using the described irrigating systems is up to 320
acre feet.
The irrigation systems include two pivots, two sideroll, and six big gun sprinklers.
The larger pivot is 1307 feet in length and covers about 78 acres. The estimated volume for this
pivot is about 837 GPM given system capabilities. The expected volume of irrigation water
provided through this pivot system ranges up to 0.35 in inches per day, with a total application
for Alfalfa of 27 inches per acre per growing season depending on weather and crop conditions.
The pivot would use about 2714 CF per irrigation day. The estimated volume for this pivot
during one irrigating season is 177 acre feet depending on weather and crop conditions. The area
covered by this pivot is shaded green on the attached map for the main spans and light blue for
the area covered by the end gun.
The smaller pivot is 613 feet in length and covers about 36 acres. The estimated volume for this
pivot is about 180 GPM given system capabilities. The expected volume of irrigation water
provided through this pivot system ranges up to 0.35 in inches per day, with a total application
for Alfalfa of 27 inches per acre per growing season depending on weather and crop conditions.
The pivot would use about 583 CF per irrigation day. The estimated volume for this pivot during
one irrigating season is 84 acre feet depending on weather and crop conditions. The area
covered by this pivot is shaded green on the attached map for the main spans and light blue for
the area covered by the end gun.
The two siderolls are each 1280 feet long to cover about 20 acres. The Sideroll will be changed
at least once a day (but could change more frequently depending on weather and crop
conditions). They will each use about 231 GPM. Depending on nozzle size, the range varies and
will cover about 2 acres per move. The total application for Alfalfa is 29 inches per acre per
growing season depending on weather and crop conditions. The estimated volume for these
siderolls during one irrigating season is 48 acre feet depending on weather and crop conditions.
The area covered by the siderolls is shaded pink on the attached map.
1
