SAMPLE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION & HANDLING: <br />• Samples must be analyzed within 28 days of collection. <br />QUALITY CONTROL <br />• No special precautions. <br />2.4.4 FLUORIDE <br />APPARATUS & MATERIALS <br />• Polyethylene bottles. <br />SAMPLE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION & HANDLING: <br />• Polyethylene bottles are required for collecting and storing samples for <br />fluoride analysis. Always rinse the bottle with a portion of the sample. <br />• Samples must be analyzed within 28 days of collection. <br />QUALITY CONTROL <br />• Sample bottle must be rinsed with a portion of the sample prior to collecting <br />the sample. <br />• Only polyethylene bottles may be used. <br />2.4.5 HARDNESS <br />APPARATUS & MATERIALS <br />• Polyethylene or glass bottles. <br />• Dilute nitric acid (1 to 1): Mix equal volumes of concentrated nitric acid, <br />HNO3, with distilled /deionized (DS /DI) water. <br />SAMPLE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION & HANDLING: <br />• Acidify with HNO3 to pH 2 or lower. <br />• Samples should be analyzed within 6 months of collection. <br />April 2013 <br />
