Permit Amendment - Cemex Sandstone Quarry <br />B -1 Introduction <br />The Cemex Sandstone Quarry property is in the Front Range foothills of Colorado and ranges from 5,350 <br />ft to 5,600 ft in elevation. <br />B -2 Climate <br />The climate is typical for the region with average high and low temperatures in July at 90 *F and 54 °F, <br />respectively, while the average high and low temperatures in December and January are 44 °F and 11 °F, <br />respectively (The Weather Channel 2013). Average precipitation is approximately 16 inches of which the <br />majority is summer rainfall. Average frost -free period lasts from mid -May through early October (Plant Maps <br />2013). The vegetation at the site <br />is characterized by ponderosa pine forest, oak and mountain mahogany shrublands, and upland grassland <br />communities. <br />B -3.1 Vegetation Communities <br />The vegetation communities described in this permit amendment application are based on field surveys <br />and digital mapping from a 2013 aerial photograph of the site.
