• Revegetation Monitoring
No sampling of reclaimed or reference areas was undertaken in 2013.
• Grazing
Cattle (1547 long yearlings) were moved on to the PSCM reclaimed area August 21St° 2013 and
moved off by September 22"d, 2013. See attached 2013 Grazing Plan Map for pasture locations.
This grazing scheme resulted in a total of 1,238 AUM's for 2013.
Assumptions:
• 1 long yearling = 0.8 AUM, requiring 648 pounds of forage per month. (One AUM
requires 810 pounds of forage
The AUM usage is calculated using the following assumptions:
Assumptions:
• Average production = 2,760 lbs /acre (See 2013 Production Cutting Table)
• Optimal usage would call for half of forage to be grazed. Equal to 1,380 lbs /acre
• Total grazed area = 2,541 acres
o includes Seneca H area because a single pasture spans across both permit
areas (Seneca H area = 351.2 acres)
• One AUM requires 810 lbs. of forage
1,380 lbs /acre (x) 2,541 acres = 3,506,580 lbs. of total forage produced
810 lbs. of forage (x) 1,238 AUM's = 1,002,780 lbs. of forage required;
Therefore,
1,002,780 (/) 3,506,166 (x) 100 = 28.6% utilization, or roughly one -third of the available
forage of the PSCM grazed reclaim area.
SEDIMENTATION POND SURVEYS
PSCM is required by Permit to periodically monitor sedimentation ponds for sediment storage
capacities. Monitoring provides a sediment yield history and gives advance warning to
operations personnel when sediment clean-out work is required. Past data has shown reduced
sedimentation as revegetation has progressed. The surveys from 2006 show capacities that are
more than adequate. Because surface mined areas have been reclaimed and have been
revegetated for several years, the capacities aren't expected to significantly change.
Additionally, Pond 002 is buffered by the lower sediment pond from newly disturbed areas
associated with the underground mine.
In accordance with Rule 4.05.9(14), each pond is inspected annually by a qualified professional
specialist under the direction of a professional engineer or a qualified registered professional
engineer. The submitted reports will comply with all requirements of Rule 4.05.9(15). Ponds
are also visually inspected quarterly by mine personnel. During these inspections, any drastic
2013 ARR 6
