( Varra) I inspected the domestic well currently owned by
Mr. Herb Acord of Weld County, Colorado. The purpose of the inspection was to document the
construction details of the well and assess the claim that current mine dewatering has induced
drawdown to a point where the well has limited ability to lift. The well is located approximately
1500 feet west of the northern extent of the Varra Heintzelman gravel quarry mine (DRMS Permit #
M- 209 -018). The well inspection was conducted on November 21, 2013. Personnel present during
the inspection were Mr. Brad Janes, Mr. Garrett Varra, me and Mr. Herb Acord. The site location is
depicted on Figure 1. The location of the well with respect to Varra mining operations is depicted on
Plate 1. Pictures of the Acord Well and Last Chance Ditch are present in Attachment A.
Based on my inspection it is my opinion that dewatering associated with the Varra Heintzelman
mine has not adversely impacted the Acord well. The rational for this opinion is provided below.
The construction details of the well of interest are as follows:
1. Six -inch diameter, steel casing with expanding well seal;
2. Top of well casing approximately 5.58 feet below grade located within a
rectangular concrete vault;
3. Depth to water measured at 5.0 feet below top of casing (TOC);
4. Depth to well bottom measured at 6.7 feet below TOC; and
5. Pump type - submersible.
At the time of the well inspection Mr. Acord indicated that the well was cycling and could not
provide an adequate volume of water for continuous household needs. Mr. Acord indicated that the
ws 4809 Four Star Court, Fort Collins, CO 80524 970- 590 -3807
