Colorado Rose Red, Inc.
Colorado Rose Red Stone Resource - M- 2013 -068
Weed Control Plan
1. INTRODUCTION
Colorado Rose Red, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the Operator)
of the Colorado Rose Red Stone Resource, encompassing a parcel of
land shown on the vicinity map and located in parts of the SEUNW24
of Section 33, T -6 -N, R -71 -W of the 6th P.M., County of Larimer,
County, State of Colorado. Containing 3.0 acres f.
The stone quarrying operation will occur on the area and eventu-
ally disturbing approximately 2.20 ac. The site currently has
areas that have been mined; area actively being mined and undis-
turbed area. Much of the area mined has been disturbed since
October 2013 and has no vegetation of any kind on it at this
time.
Recognizing the presence of state - listed and county- listed nox-
ious weeds in the general vicinity of this project area; and
understanding the destructive nature of these noxious weeds, the
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety has required
the operator to develop and implement a weed management and
revegetation plan encompassing the total project area.
The CSU Cooperative Extension office operates under cooperative
agreement with the Larimer County government, and provides tech-
nical assistance regarding noxious weed management on public and
private lands within the county. Colorado Rose Red, Inc. will do
biennial checks on the mine for any noxious weeds on site.
It is not possible to totally eradicate the noxious weeds from
the mine since much of the surrounding property is not managed
for noxious weed control. The property owners have not experi-
enced a large problem with noxious weeds on the site in the past.
The uncontrolled areas may become the seed source for an infesta-
tion, if it occurs on the mine. For this reason the Operator
will be continually working to control noxious weeds throughout
the life of the mine and until reclamation is done.
2. OVERVIEW OF APPROACH TO WEED MANAGEMENT
Weed control is part of property management. This plan is based
on preserving the desired plant species and communities, rather
than on simply eliminating weeds. Preventive programs are imple-
mented to keep the management area free of species that are not
yet established, but which are known to be pests elsewhere in the
area. Priorities are set to reduce or eradicate weeds that have
Prepared by Environment, Inc. 3/12/14
