This past fall, MCC and Forest Service (FS) personnel conducted field reviews of
the remaining E5 MDW roads and pads previously approved in PR -14 to determine which
locations should be adjusted to provide better MDW access and pad locations and result in
less disturbance.
As an outcome of this revision, approximately 6,600 feet (3.8 acre) of new roads would be
constructed to replace 6,765 feet (3.9 acre) of previously approved roads, resulting in a net
reduction in land disturbance of approximately 165 feet of road or 0.1 acre. Eleven (11) large
(1+ acre) previously approved MDW pad polygons will also be deleted from the 2014 MDW
drilling program and will be replaced by eight (8) smaller (about 0.5 acre) pad sites, one of
which will be the site of two diagonally drilled MDWs. This will result in about a 7.0 acres
reduction in disturbance. - The new locations were evaluated by the FS to identify any
previously undocumented cultural resources, T &E species and other resources of special
interest. The FS will document the findings of these evaluations during this revision process.
Please contact me at (970) 929 -2238 or by e-mail should you have questions regarding this
submittal.
Sincerely,
Kathleen .
