TECHNICAL REVISION 02
Introduction
The Atlas Waste pile at the Revenue Mine has been reduced in size and scope in order to avoid
disturbing nearby wetlands. This revised waste pile is 206,271 tons in capacity, and 4.35 acres in
area (including Sediment Pond 1). An additional 0.30 acres of area is taken up by the Diversion
#1B ditch. This leads to the Atlas disturbance area being 4.64 acres.
Mining and Reclamation Plans
The mining plan for the Revenue Mine is not being fundamentally changed by the reduction in
size of the Atlas pile. Mining and processing will continue to take place as described in the
approved permit. Once the Revenue waste pile area reaches capacity, tailings will be place on the
Atlas Waste pile. This pile will be built in the same sequence of lifts as the Revenue waste pile.
The Atlas Waste pile will have a maximum capacity of 206,271 tons. Combined with the
Revenue waste pile (333,000 tons) leads to a total waste capacity of 539,271 tons. This is
roughly a 50% reduction in the mine's waste capacity.
The reduction in waste capacity will reduce the mine's life, under the current mining plan. At the
anticipated waste production rate of 95,000 tons a year, the total life of the Revenue Mine is
limited to 6.6 years of mining. This life includes startup and shutdown activities. Table 1 shows
the revised mine life and timeline based on the reduced waste storage capacity.
RECEIVED
HB 2 7 2014
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
