directly from a steel tape. Pressure readings (in psi) obtained from <br />flowing wells with pressure gages are multiplied by 2.31 to obtain head <br />in feet. For the sake of brevity, the prefix that precedes all well <br />names will be dropped throughout this report (except in the case of <br />nested wells with a similar number). As an example, Well SCAL46 may be <br />referred to as Well 46. <br />Ground Water Level Summary. This year, water levels at all wells fell <br />within their historic ranges, with the following exceptions. Fish Creek <br />Alluvial Well 72 displayed its lowest water level in September 2013; <br />however, this well is new to SCC's monitoring program; only ten <br />measurements have been made so far. <br />All alluvial wells are showing distinct seasonal water level <br />fluctuations in response to periods of precipitation recharge or the <br />lack of precipitation. Overburden and coal well water levels are <br />fluctuating in response to the precipitation recharge and ground water <br />flow from the reclaimed mine pits. <br />Ground Water Quality. Ground water samples were collected from two wells <br />on a biannual basis. The parameter lists used for all wells sampled this <br />year are given on Tables 4 and 4A. Analyses have been performed by ACZ <br />Laboratory in Steamboat Springs, Colorado since May 31, 1983. ACZ <br />Laboratory performs all analyses by EPA or equivalent methods. Samples <br />are delivered the day of collection to the lab in an iced cooler. The <br />old ground water monitoring program is presented on pages 7- 341/342 of <br />the Seneca II PAP. The new program is provided in the PR -02 package <br />(Volume 14) on page 2.04.7 -2. <br />The following discussion of the analytical data collected during the <br />reporting period is arranged by strata being monitored and coincides <br />with the format (by aquifer type) in which the analytical data are <br />presented in Appendix C. The discussion of water quality will be limited <br />to a description of total dissolved solids (TDS) concentrations. A <br />separate section, Comparison of Ground Water Quality to Water Use <br />Standards, will discuss any samples that exceed water use standards. <br />3 <br />
