2/26/2014 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - F\&d: Williams Fork- Sage Grouse Question
Ebert - DNR, Jared <jared.ebert @state.co.us> Tue, Feb 25, 2014 at 2:13 PM
To: Alysha Hernandez - DNR <alysha.hernandez @ state.co.us>, Mary Rodriguez - DNR
<mary.rodriguez @state.co.us>
Jared /Sandy —
Thanks for your time yesterday, appreciated the opportunity to review and discuss status and direction for our
Williams Fork Property.
As I mentioned, I had contacted Liza Rossi with CPW re: any mapping of Sage Grouse leks for the Williams
Fork Property. She referred me to Brian Holmes, who is the grouse specialist out of the CPW Meeker Office that
is responsible for Area 6, which includes the Williams Fork Property. Brian sent me the attached map showing
both identified Sage Grouse and Sharp - Tailed Grouse Iek locations in the Williams Fork area.
As you will note, there is only one identified Sage Grouse Iek location in the area (on the edge of Big Bottom
near the reclaimed Williams Fork Strip Pit), and Brian indicated that it had not been active in the last 15 years.
He also indicated that given the success of Sharp -Tail reestablishment on mine reclaim areas (Twentymile and
Trapper), he has no concerns about potential adverse mining impacts on Sharp - Tails. Given this information, it
doesn't appear that a Section 7 consultation would be necessary or appropriate for the renewal. I will integrate
this information into the permit updates to be provided as a TR for the Renewal /Mid -Term —
Best regards,
Jerry
https: / /mail.g oog le.conVmai I /u /0 / ?ui =2 &i k= e29129fcb5 &viev-- pt &search =i nbox&th= 1446ae5915a01655 1/2
