Purpose <br />Delta County is considering the purchase of a private parcel on the north side of North Road, in Delta <br />County, Colorado, for the purpose of opening and operating a county gravel pit. As part of due diligence <br />for the land purchase, Delta County requested that BIO -Logic provide an assessment of the potential <br />impacts of the project on waterbirds and other wildlife associated with the nearby Fruitgrowers Reservoir. <br />This report provides a description of the waterbirds and other wildlife associated with the reservoir, public <br />use of the reservoir for birding and other wildlife - related recreation, and the potential impacts of the <br />proposed project on the wildlife resources and wildlife - related public use. <br />BIO -Logic wildlife biologist Steve Boyle and plant ecologist Dr. Alison Graff visited the Site on August <br />1, 2013. We reviewed maps, aerial photos, and various data sources on the wildlife resources of <br />Fruitgrowers Reservoir. Steve Boyle also participated in a meeting on October 1, 2013 with Delta <br />County staff and several members of the Black Canyon Audubon Society, during which we received <br />valuable information on waterbirds of the reservoir and public viewing of the birds.
