Zuber
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Southfield Mine (Permit No. C- 1981 -014), Permit Renewal Application No. 6 (RN -6) (CHS #65396)
Dear Mr. Zuber:
Thank you for your recent correspondence dated February 4, 2014 (received by our office on February 6, 2014)
regarding the subject application for mine permit renewal.
As the proposed mine permit renewal does not include modifications or revisions to the existing permit and
does not propose surface disturbance outside that which is currently approved, it is our opinion that a finding of
no historic properties affected is appropriate for the proposed undertaking.
If previously unidentified archaeological resources are discovered in the course of the project, work must be
interrupted until the resources are properly evaluated in terms of the National Register of Historic Places
eligibility criteria (36 CFR 60.4) in consultation with our office.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. If we may be of further assistance, please contact Mark Tobias,
Section 106 Compliance Manager, at (303) 866 -4674 or mark.tobiasng,state.co.us.
4 Si cerely,
4 d Si
C.
