r]
Mr. Rob Zuber
February 17, 2014
Page 2
DRMS Item 2: As for hydrology, the current grading and reclamation schedule was shown in
hydrologic analyses to be sufficient for the channels and ponds, but if you need to increase pond
sizes or add an additional pond higher in the watershed we can discuss this.
Response: Colowyo has reviewed Exhibit 7 -14C and believes the hydrologic assumptions
approved in the PAP do not warrant an increase in pond size or additional ponds in the channel.
The Taylor Tributary Ditch has been designed for a 100 year, 24 -hour event when the entire
watershed is reporting to the East Taylor Pond (including the East Taylor Ditch and Taylor Ditch).
Colowyo believes these assumptions are relevant to the proposed spoil grading plan based off the
currently approved post -mine topography (PMT) approved under TR -81. Furthermore, the Taylor
Tributary Ditch already includes three sumps which will be constructed into the post -mine
topography also approved under TR -81.
Colowyo also reviewed Exhibit 7 -14E and believes the current hydrologic assumptions for the
Streeter Gulch Ditch are also sufficient. Approximately half of the Streeter Gulch Ditch has already
been constructed and established for approximately 20 years. With this long -term established and
stable section of the Streeter Gulch Ditch, Colowyo believes this spoil grading schedule as proposed
does not warrant additional ponds in the channel or an increase in the size of the Streeter Pond.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact Chris Gilbreath at (303)
254 -3291 or cgilbreath @tristategt.org.
Sincerely,
G ,W
Barbara A.
