JD -7 Mine — Drainage Design Plan
Figure 2. Photo Facing Downstream (North) Showing Drainage Characteristics on Valley
Floor in Sub -Basin B2, South of JD -7 Topsoil Stockpile
Sub -basin 134 occupies 677.9 acres, including 16.85 acres of the eastern JD -7 lease area (Plate 1). Sub -
basin 134 originates partway up the escarpment and is dominated by an unnamed intermittent drainage.
Although the USGS mapped this drainage as intermittent from the 6,085 ft elevation to its confluence with
East Paradox Creek at 5,425 -ft elevation, the USGS Quad map showed the drainage crossing the drainage
divide into sub -basin 133. The drainage is braided, ephemeral, and difficult to trace on the valley floor
south of State Highway 90. North of Highway 90, the channel is somewhat more pronounced and
confluences with East Paradox Creek approximately 1,000 feet north of the highway crossing.
Sub -basin B5 occupies 427.4 acres, including 33.81 acres of the eastern JD -7 lease area (Plate 1). Sub -
basin 135 originates at the crest of Monogram Mesa and the escarpment and is dominated by an unnamed
intermittent drainage. Although the USGS mapped this drainage as intermittent from the 6,085 ft elevation
to its confluence with East Paradox Creek at 5,425 -ft elevation, the USGS Quad map showed the drainage
crossing the drainage divide into sub -basin 133. The drainage is braided, ephemeral, and difficult to trace
on the valley floor south of State Highway 90. North of Highway 90, the channel is somewhat more
pronounced and confluences with East Paradox Creek approximately 1,000 feet north of the highway
crossing
Minor sub - basins within major sub -basin 133 are shown in Figure 3 for the current condition and discussed
in detail in Section 4.
1.3 List of Abbreviations
The following table lists the terms and abbreviations used throughout this document.
4149A.140207 Whetstone Associates
