62
1 taken and moved from one place to another like that.
2 And so we have lost tremendously
3 here. We need it to be put back as good as or
4 better than it was, as the Colorado regulatory
5 program states. We need our soils back, and we need
6 it to be reclaimed as the prime farmland it was.
7 According to Dave Deerstein at NRCS,
8 a suitable subsoil can be made to make some types of
9 prime farmland, but our Barx is a 2 -E. It's way up
10 here. It's 1.8 scale, and ours is a 2 -E, which is,
11 he said, the very best in that area that there is.
12 And so we are going to still be objecting to all of
13 this.
14 As to the irrigation, in 2008 as soon
15 as they went to this meeting that we were not
16 allowed to attend -- we begged Marcia -- Dan
17 Matthews, Marcia Talvitie, Sandy Brown, Mike Boulay.
18 We called them five times a day and begged them to
19 allow us at that 2008 meeting so we could be a part
20 of it.
21 They said absolutely no. There would
22 be no decisions made at that meeting, that it was
23 just a discussion. We have a letter here from
24 Sandy -- from Marcia and Dan Matthews that said no
25 decisions were made, these were just discussions.
