Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
PSES Pipe Rack Liner Extension
Final Report
Quality uality Assurance Monitoring &Test Results
February 4, 2014
4.1.3 Atterberg Limits
AMEC performed Atterberg limits testing of the DCF materials. Samples tested met
project specifications for Atterberg limits. Atterberg limits test data are presented in
Appendix H and summarized in Table 4.
AMEC performed five CQA Atterberg limits tests of DCF. The testing frequency
(approximately one test per 881 cubic yards) exceeded the minimum specified testing
frequency of one test per 1,000 cubic yards. The DCF Atterberg limits met project
specifications, and the results are presented in Appendix H and summarized in
Table 4.
4.2 Field Testing and Monitoring
AMEC observed earthwork fill operations at the PSES Pipe Rack Liner Extension to
verify, when necessary; lift thickness, adequate compaction, and acceptable moisture
conditions.
4.2.1 Random Fill Subgrade Preparation
AMEC monitored random fill subgrade preparation for compliance with the Technical
Specifications. It was verified that Ames removed protruding rocks from the subgrade
surface and the subgrade surface was smooth and unyielding prior to GCL placement.
4.2.2 Drain Cover Fill
AMEC provided visual monitoring of DCF placement. One AMEC monitor and one
Ames labourer per machine monitored the DCF placement, unless two machines were
within approximately 50 feet of each other during DCF placement. Where present,
AMEC verified that wrinkles in the geomembrane did not fold over. PVC grade
markers were placed on a maximum 50 foot by 50 foot grid and at grade breaks; and
all fill materials were suitable. AMEC continuously inspected geomembrane during
DCF placement; marked areas for repair if required; and verified that all repairs were
completed to project specifications. After final grading, AMEC monitored removal of
PVC grade markers.
9
