2/10/2014
State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - FW: WeeldyCQA Report Questions
statement indicating average soil temp was above 32 degrees was no longer in the report. This brings questions
related to the spec, specifically Section 02200.0, Part 3.06, ¶ A.2 - no frozen material shall be incorporated into
fill. The fill Materials are monitored for temperature throughout the placement. No frozen fill is placed. This
general statement was removed as when we state that the fill material was placed per method specification that
includes the quoted specification.
2) Week ending 10/26/13. There was an extra 313 ft of secondary underdrain placed due to wetter than
expected conditions. This will need to be included in the as- builts. This information will be asbuilt.
3) Weeks ending 12/21/13 & 1/4/14 - mention was made of placing "rock fill ". There is no spec for rock fill or its
placement. This is a field slang due to the large rock used as Structural fill. I corrected the reports to read
Structural fill and they are attached.
4) Weeks ending 12/21/13 & 1/11/14 - mention was made of excavating 1/2:1 slopes. I'm just looking for some
additional explanation on this. The slope above the proposed ADR -2 platform is designed at a .5 to 1.
5) Clay borrow soil samples: Sample #79 -S was taken the week ending 12/21/13. Apparently no samples were
taken over the next 2 weeks due to the holiday work suspension. The first clay sample for the week ending
1/11/14 was #81 -S. Was a #80 -S sample taken, and when? Sample # 80 was taken on 1 -4 -14.
6) 1 cannot find a report for the week ending 11/30/13. Attached.
thought you might need to do some research into some of these, thus the reason for the heads up email,
instead of a phone call.
Please call me this week when you've gotten familiar with theses items, so we can discuss them.
Thanks.
Tim Cazier, P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
ph: 303 - 866 -3567 x8169
NEW cell: 303 - 328 -5229
fax: 303 - 832 -8106
tim.cazier@state.co.us
https: / /niai I .g oog I e.con-/mai I /u/0 / ?ui =2 &i Ir 5fO9c8c280 &vi evr pt &sear ch= i nbox&th= 1440dca39b26l b0c 2/3
