The NRCS letter states in part "In reviewing the materials submitted for this revision it <br />appears that the Prime Farmlands issue is addressed adequately ". <br />Information on Environmental Resources <br />The New Horizon Mine is located near Nucla, Colorado. The total current permit area includes <br />926 acres. The PR 8 application does not affect or modify any previously described or approved <br />geology, topography, surface water or ground water information. <br />Soils - <br />The PR 8 application addresses the Soils Resource Information requirements of the Regulations <br />(Rule 2.04.9), with the application "Section 2.04.9 Soil Resources Information ", pages 2.04.9 -1 <br />through 2.04.9 -41. The pages are accompanied by a Table of Contents for the section. Also <br />provided with PR 8 is a "Soil Baseline Map, New Horizon Mine, Map 2.04.9 -1 ". The PR 8 <br />removes a previous "Attachment 2.04.9 -5, Important Farmland Inventory Natural Resource <br />Conservation Service United States Department of agriculture Denver, Colorado, October 1982" <br />due to the existence of more current information. <br />Detailed soil surveys on portions of the New Horizon Mine were conducted in 1988, 1996 and <br />1998. The surveys included mapping and sampling of the subject soils. The Map 2.04.9 -1 shows <br />the boundaries of the original surveys. The PR 8 Tables 2.04.9 -1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7A, 713, 8A, 813, <br />8C, and 9 provide detailed soil sampling information including soil evaluation criteria, and soil <br />quantity and quality data. <br />Soil and map units described and encountered are: <br />Map Unit 98A - <br />Map Unit 98B - <br />Map Unit 98C - <br />Map Unit 98D - <br />Map Unit 98E - <br />Map Unit 98F - <br />Map Unit 98G <br />Map Unit 98H <br />- Begay fine sandy loam <br />- Valleycity — rock outcrop complex <br />- Monierco fine sandy loam <br />- Bowbac- Bowdish complex <br />- Darvey -Bari complex <br />Hap largrids- Endoaqueotes association <br />- Bowdish- Bowbac complex with eolian sands <br />- Wahweap fine sandy loam. <br />The above - referenced application materials are hereby incorporated by reference, and found to <br />be in compliance with Rule 2.04.9. <br />Vegetation - <br />The PR 8 application addresses the Vegetation Information requirements of the Regulations <br />(Rule 2.04.10), with the application "Section 2.04. 10 Vegetation Information, New Horizon 2 <br />Mine Area ", pages 2.04.10 -1 through 2.04.10 -98. The pages are accompanied by a Table of <br />Contents for the section. This permit section provides detailed information regarding baseline <br />vegetation and land use information.
