PERMIT #: M- 1975 -009
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: January 30, 2014
OBSERVATIONS
The Doughty's Pit was inspected by Peter Hays with the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety as part of
the Division's monitoring inspection program. The site was previously inspected by the Division on July 22,
2010. Mr. Thomas Murray with Lakewood Brick and Tile Company and Mr. Steve O'Brian with Environment,
Inc. were present during the inspection.
The site is permitted for 5.0 acres. The 2013 annual report submitted by the Operator indicated 3.10 acres of
disturbance and 2.0 acres of reclamation at the site. Mining is planned to continue to the south and east of
the current pit floor. The site was inactive during the inspection; however material was mined and removed
from stockpiles during the 2013 mining season.
The entrance sign and boundary markers were observed during the inspection as required by Rule 3.1.12.
New posts for the permit area were installed in June 2012 according to the 2013 annual report. The Division
holds a financial warranty in the amount of $8,385.00, which appears adequate to reclaim the site based on
this inspection.
The Division approved a technical revision to modify the permit boundary on November 26, 2010 by releasing
the two northern inactive portions and consolidating the 5.0 acre permit area around the active southern pit.
No runoff problems were observed during this inspection, however the site was partially snow covered. The
site was impacted by the recent flooding event in the region. The stockpiled material was moved to the
northeast, partially burying a loader parked in the stockpile /loading area of the site.
No problems were cited during the inspection. Photographs taken during the inspection are attached below.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Thomas Murray
Lakewood Brick & Tile Company
1325 Jay St
Lakewood, CO 80214
Cc: Tom Kaldenbach, DRMS
Steve O'Brian, Environment, Inc.
