discussion is provided only to serve as a comparative basis to judge
ground water quality.
In the Probable Hydrological Consequences (PHC, Tab 17, Attachment 17 -5)
section of the Yoast Mine PAP, predictions were made as to the expected
TDS increases to be observed at various monitoring wells. The following
table outlines these predictions along with this year's observed average
values (annual average for bedrock wells, May - September average for
alluvial wells).
Well Predicted TDS values (mg /1)
YOV30 3201
YW30
YWC33
YAAL14
YGAL16
YSAL1
2570
2721
2036
1296
798
YSAL3 798
* indicates value above prediction
This years average TDS (mg /1)
2220
7030*
770
3090*
1490*
2100*
1290*
At Annand Draw alluvial well YAAL14, the TDS value observed this year
was 3090 mg /l. This value exceeds the predicted value of 2036 mg /l. The
GWPOC well for the Grassy Creek Alluvium (downstream of Annand Draw),
SGAL70, did not exceed the TDS GWPOC standard, 5038 mg /1.
At Grassy Creek alluvial well YGAL16, the TDS value observed this year
was 1490 mg /l. This value exceeds the predicted value of 1296 mg /l. The
GWPOC well for the Grassy Creek Alluvium, SGAL70, did not exceed the TDS
GWPOC standard, 5038 mg /1.
At Sage Creek alluvial well YSAL1, the TDS value observed this year was
2100 mg /l. The TDS value observed this year upstream at Well YSAL3
(directly below Pond 012) was 1290 mg /1. These two values exceed the
predicted value of 798 mg /1. The GWPOC well for the Sage Creek Alluvium,
YSAL3, did not exceed the TDS GWPOC standard, 2675 mg /1.
C
