Fall 2013 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
South of Divide and Dry Fork Minino Areas (E -Seam)
Figure 3. Northwestward view during
spring 2013 site visit of numerous
subsidence cracks on the MDW E4-
10 well pad.
Figure 4. Northwestward view during
fall 2013 site visit of the same area
shown in Figure 3.
Another small sub - traverse approximately 250 feet east of point A' leads to the MDW E4 -07 and
E4 -08 pads. Subsidence cracks were observed during the spring 2013 field visit on the MDW E4-
08 pad as shown in Figure 5. Note the three prominent sub - parallel subsidence cracks on the
northwest corner of this MDW pad (right foreground in image) each with a general north -south
orientation. Longwall mining had occurred beneath this location less than one week prior to our
spring 2013 field visit. No subsidence - related features were noted on MDW E4 -07.
Figure 6 shows the MDW E4 -08 pad as observed during the fall 2013 field visit. Note how the
rightmost crack has widened and deepened.
831 - 032.795 Wright Water Engineers, Inc. Page 8
January 2014
