formation and raveling are anticipated to be limited in size, and should be retained on the <br />bench below the highwall and only cause local operational delays. <br />Sta. 3 +05 to 5 +30 trended 060 (north 60 degrees east). This section of the highwall <br />was not mappable due to high weathering, overburden, mine waste, and/or rockfall <br />obscuring the wall. However, it is assumed the highwall conditions are similar to <br />adjacent observable /mappable sections. <br />Figures 7 and 8 show the photo documentary of Haul Road Highwall 7335 — 7270. <br />3.3.4 Haul Road Highwall 7260 — 7175 <br />The Haul Road Highwall 7260 — 7175 scanline is approximately 620 feet long and divided <br />into three distinct sections. The overall trend of the highwall in all sections was 345 (north 15 <br />degrees west). <br />• Sta. 0 +00 to 0 +50 was not mappable due to overburden, mine waste, and/or <br />rockfall obscuring the wall. However, it is assumed the highwall conditions are <br />similar to adjacent observable /mappable sections. <br />• Sta. 0 +50 to 2 +90 consisted of primarily of granitic and biotitic gneiss. Rocks <br />observed within the highwall typically exhibited medium high to high compressive <br />strength (estimated) and very poor quality RQD. Two primary joint sets were <br />evident. The first set exhibited a strike ranging from 180 degrees to 350 degrees <br />with dips ranging from 70 to 90 degrees. The spacing between of these joints <br />varied, but was typically close. The persistence of the joints was also widely <br />variable, but ranged from low to medium. Apertures of the joints were moderately <br />open to open with slightly rough to rough surfaces and were highly weathered. The <br />second primary joint set exhibited a strike ranging from 80 degrees to 100 degrees <br />with dips ranging from 50 degrees to 75 degrees. This joint set had similar <br />properties to primary joint set 1— very poor quality RQD, close to moderately <br />spaced joints, low to medium persistence moderately open to open joint apertures, <br />and slightly rough to rough rock surfaces, and high weathering. Foliations <br />exhibited a strike ranging from 280 to 5 degrees with dips ranging from 5 to 40 <br />degrees. The spacing between of the foliation varied, but was typically close. The <br />persistence of the foliation was also widely variable, but ranged from low to high. <br />Apertures of the foliation were moderately open to open with slightly rough to <br />rough surfaces and were highly weathered. <br />Small blocks may form in this area due to the orientation of the highwall and joint sets of the <br />rock. In addition, due to the fractured nature of the rock and highwall weathering, raveling of <br />small to medium sized rocks can also be expected.
