Aerial photographs were taken on January 22, 2014 at approximately
4:23 PM. Mike Boulay of the DRMS reviewed the aerial photographs. Weather conditions appear to be clear and
sunny at the time of the flight. Five photographs were taken during the flyover.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4, Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Pond 001 is clearly visible in the photographs. This is the only sediment pond that has been constructed to date at
the mine site. There appears to be a small amount of water retained in the pond but the pond bottom is not entirely
covered. Remaining snow at the site is confined mainly to north facing slopes of the overburden and topsoil
stockpiles. There is a small area of frozen groundwater visible in the pit bottom. All areas of the site appear stable
with no problems noted.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
The only discernible activity at the site is a dozer working at the coal stockpile. The mine's shovel is idle and
there are several haul trucks and a water truck for dust control visible. There appears to be very little activity at
the site. Topsoil has been salvaged well ahead of the active pit and appears to be completed for now.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED None
OTHER (SPECIFY)
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 4
