The
Division reviewed the water sampling report based upon the requirements within the McClane Canyon Mine's permit and
finds it in compliance of the following requirements:
Groundwater Qualitv Monitoring
1. Quarterly monitoring of wells GW -1 and GW -9 for Static Water Level, pH, Temperature and Specific
Conductance.
• Static water level, pH, temperature and specific conductance were all measured. No issues are observed.
2. Water quality sampling of mine water discharges as required by NPDES and CDOH permit.
• NPDES reports were received by the Division as a separate report.
3. Monitoring of all non -seeps inflows into the mine to include source, quantity, duration and quality (pH Electrical
Conductance and temperature).
• All mine inflows are documented with the mine's annual hydrology report.
4. Monitor quantities of water discharge from the mine, consumed in the mine and imported for use in the mine.
• All quantities of water discharge from the mine, consumed in the mine and imported for use in the mine
are reported with the mine's annual hydrology report.
5. Results of the quarterly groundwater monitoring shall be submitted to the Division during the month following
the end of that quarter.
• Groundwater monitoring report was received within the month following the end of the quarter.
Surface water Ouality Monitoring — Temyorary Cessation
1. Water quality samples will be taken quarterly from sites SW -1 and SW -8.
• There was no flow during the 2013 4th quarter.
2. Water quality samples will be taken twice a year at SW -2; once during spring snow melt and once during a storm
event.
• Samples for SW -2 are found in the mine's annual hydrology report. There was no flow during the 2013
4th quarter.
3. Samples will be analyzed for pH, specific conductance, temperature, TSS and TDS.
• Parameters listed above were taken into consideration. There was no flow during the 2013 4th quarter.
4. Quantity of flow will be measured at SW -1, SW -2 and SW -8 when samples are collected.
• Flow was taken into consideration. There was no flow during the 2013 4th quarter.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
