Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division received 2013 Annual Reclamation Report (ARR) for the North Thompson Creek Mine on January 16,
2014. The report shows that no new acres were disturbed, backfilled, graded, topsoiled or seeded during 2013. It
also shows that 4.1 acres have not been Phase III bond released and are in long -term mining or reclamation facilities.
The report indicates that 0.04 acres were disturbed by the landowner. The disturbance consisted of redirecting the
Pond 9 spillway away from North Thompson Creek to the refuse pile pond. The 0.04 acre disturbed area is not new
disturbance but within the boundary of the existing developed water resource disturbance.
The submitted ARR form has listed 0.04 acres disturbed this calendar year. The column labeled "This Calendar
Year" is reserved for newly disturbed acreage, which is not the case in this instance. Please submit a revised ARR
form with this column marked as `0'. The submitted cover letter adequately explains the nature and location of the
disturbance.
Sincerely,
Brock Bowles
Environmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
