Case Narrative
Client: Coors Energy Company
Project/Site: Keenesburg Mine, CO
Job ID: 280 - 33543 -1 (Continued)
TestAmerica Job ID: 280 - 33543 -1
Laboratory: TestAmerica Denver (Continued)
Samples FPW (280- 33543 -1), AMW -1 (280- 33543 -2), DH -96 (280- 33543 -3), DH -122 (280- 33543 -4), SMW -2 (280- 33543 -5) and a
AMW -2 (280- 33543 -6) were analyzed for Alkalinity in accordance with SM 2320B. The samples were analyzed on 09/21/2012.
No difficulties were encountered during the alkalinity analyses.
All quality control parameters were within the acceptance limits.
SPECIFIC CONDUCTIVITY
Samples FPW (280- 33543 -1), AMW -1 (280- 33543 -2), DH -96 (280- 33543 -3), DH -122 (280- 33543 -4), SMW -2 (280- 33543 -5) and
AMW -2 (280- 33543 -6) were analyzed for specific conductivity in accordance with SM 2510B. The samples were analyzed on
09/25/2012 and 09/27/2012.
No difficulties were encountered during the conductivity analyses.
All quality control parameters were within the acceptance limits.
TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS
Samples FPW (280- 33543 -1), AMW -1 (280- 33543 -2), DH -96 (280- 33543 -3), DH -122 (280- 33543 -4), SMW -2 (280- 33543 -5) and
AMW -2 (280- 33543 -6) were analyzed for total dissolved solids in accordance with SM 2540C. The samples were analyzed on
09/24/2012 and 09/25/2012.
Due to the matrix, the initial volume used for sample AMW -1 (280- 33543 -2) deviated from the standard procedure. The reporting
limits (RLs) have been adjusted proportionately.
No difficulties were encountered during the TDS analyses.
All quality control parameters were within the acceptance limits.
ANIONS (28 DAYS)
Samples FPW (280- 33543 -1), AMW -1 (280- 33543 -2), DH -96 (280- 33543 -3), DH -122 (280- 33543 -4), SMW -2 (280- 33543 -5) and
AMW -2 (280- 33543 -6) were analyzed for anions (28 days) in accordance with EPA Method 300.0. The samples were analyzed on
09/21/2012 and 09/22/2012.
Please note that the recoveries for the Sulfate and Chloride MS /MSD performed on sample DH -96 (280- 33543 -3) are within QC
control limits; however, these are estimated values as the concentrations exceeded the calibration range. Method precision and
accuracy have been verified by the acceptable LCS /LCSD analysis data; therefore, corrective action is deemed unnecessary.
Samples FPW (280- 33543 - 1)[10X], AMW -1 (280- 33543 - 2)[20X], DH -96 (280- 33543 - 3)[20X], DH -122 (280- 33543 - 4)[5X], DH -122
(280- 33543 - 4)[50X], SMW -2 (280- 33543 - 5)[100X], SMW -2 (280- 33543 - 5)[20X], AMW -2 (280- 33543 - 6)[100X] and AMW -2
(280- 33543 - 6)[20X] required a dilution prior to analysis. The reporting limits have been adjusted accordingly.
No other difficulties were encountered during the anions analyses.
All other quality control parameters were within the acceptance limits.
HARDNESS
Samples FPW (280- 33543 -1), AMW -1 (280- 33543 -2), DH -96 (280- 33543 -3), DH -122 (280- 33543 -4), SMW -2 (280- 33543 -5) and
AMW -2 (280- 33543 -6) were analyzed for hardness. The samples were analyzed on 09/28/2012.
No difficulties were encountered during the Hardness analyses.
TestAmerica Denver
Page 5 of 33 9/28/2012
