The calculated drawdown for the Lightsey well was estimated by use of the equation:
g = T (Raghunath, 1987)
SW 1.4
where: T = transmissivity (2,500 ftz /day — 20 feet of saturated thickness x 125' per day)
Q = pumping rate (100,800 gpd or 13,477 ft3 /day)
SW = drawdown in feet (calculated)
The efficiency of the well is assumed to be 70 %. Thus, the specific capacity is:
T x 0.70 = S/day x 0.7 =1,250 ftz /day
1.4 1.4
SW = 13,477 ft3 /day = 10.78 feet
1,250T
Note: the above calculations assume steady state conditions.
