This
SWSP is requested to cover depletions for five previously mined gravel pits (ponds) that are owned and
operated by the Tri- Districts and the City of Greeley ( "Partners" or "Applicant ") and located within two
permitted sites. The required fee of $514 (2 X $257) has been submitted (receipt no. 3662580).
SWSP Operations
The two Treiber Lakes and three Lamb Lakes were constructed under DRMS permit no. M-
1977 -439 (Home Office Pit). The Home Office Pit is operated by Martin Marietta Materials ( "MMM ")
and is included in their Upper Poudre Combined SWSP (WDID 0302517), most recently approved in a
letter dated March 12, 2013. The Treiber Lakes have officially been separated from the Home Office
Pit mining permit boundaries and are now covered under DRMS permit no. M- 2011 -049. The Lamb
Lakes remain within the boundaries of MMM's DRMS mining permit for the Home Office Pit. Depletions
from the Lamb Lakes will be replaced under this SWSP; however, final reclamation liability remains with
MMM as the Home Office Pit permit holder.
The Partners completed construction of a slurry wall around Treiber Lake A on August 7, 2013
and began their 90 -day leak test on August 27, 2013. Due to the heavy rains the region received in
September 2013, Treiber Lake A was pumped out and the leak test restarted on September 29, 2013,
with an end date of December 29, 2013. A slurry wall is scheduled for construction around Treiber
Lake B during 2015. The projected depletions associated with the slurry wall construction are included
in this SWSP, along with past and projected evaporative depletions for Treiber Lake B and the Lamb
Lakes, and past evaporative depletions for Treiber Lake A. Replacement sources under this SWSP
include releases of reusable water from mountain reservoirs, direct replacement from transmountain
sources, and reusable municipal return flows from East Larimer County Water District.
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 • Denver, CO 80203 • Phone: 303 -866 -3581 • Fax: 303 - 866 -3589
www.watenstate.co.us
