The dryland mix will also be used on the topsoil stockpile for temporary cover. These grasses
have proven to do well in the dry lowland environment of western Colorado. They will prevent
erosion and provide forage and cover for animals. Certified weed free hay or straw mulch will
also be applied at the rate of 2000 lbs /acre of reseeded ground. The mulch will be crimped into
the ground to provide soil stabilization.
This revegatation plan has been assembled with consultation of the local NRCS office and the
Gunnison County Weed District.
6. Post - Reclamation Site Drainage
The biggest change to the site drainage will be the creation of two large lakes on the property.
Most of the site will drain to one of the lakes, with disturbed areas that do not drain to the lakes
maintaining their pre -mine drainage patterns.
With the exception of the lakes, all disturbed areas will be backfilled, graded, topsoiled, and
seeded to restore their pre -mine erosive conditions.
7. Weed Control
Measures will be employed for control of any noxious weed species. A Weed Control Plan will
be utilized as follows:
1) Each May, a weed survey will be made of the permit area. If any sign of weeds is
identified, a second survey will be conducted in July of that year, with a third survey
conducted in September if needed.
2) If any patches or plants have been identified, they will be sprayed by backpack sprayer or
4- wheeler using chemicals labeled for the conditions of Tomichi Pit, and that are
appropriate for the identified weed.
Tomichi Pit, December 2013 E -5
