MEMORANDUM
TO:
COLOWYO FILE (PERMIT NUMBER C- 1981 -019)
FROM:
ROB ZUBER
SUBJECT:
REPAIR WORD ON PRIMARY SPILLWAY OF WORK AREA POND
DATE:
12/16/2013
In the Hydrologic Balance section of my December inspection report (dated December 13, 2013)
I wrote the following:
"One problem was observed: the primary spillway at the Work Area Pond has been leaking
through the head gate (this had been communicated to DRMS on 12/9/2013). At the time of the
inspection, the flume was covered with ice, but due to low temperatures it appeared that no water
was flowing through the spillway. Colowyo indicated that this would be sealed in the near future
using bentonite. Next year (late spring or early summer) a permanent repair for the spillway
should be implemented."
On December 16, 2013, Colowyo staff sent me an email with three photo attachments showing
the work that has been performed, namely adding bentonite chips around the gate valve structure
and removing ice from the flume. Colowyo staff also indicated that there was no discharge
through the flume after the work was completed and that they will continue to monitor the
location and report to DRMS if there are any other developments.
The photographs will be filed in Laserfiche.
