Per conversations with ADDCAR staff,they have encountered steep slopes
(approximately 14 degrees);to date they have progressed to approximately 650 feet into the wall.
• A loader/truck operation was removing F 1 coal.
• Near the southwest corner of the pit, a rig was in use for exploration purposes.
Regarding the highwall mining, Lee Sampson (Colowyo engineer) indicated in the office that the three entries into
the south wall did not exceed 1,200 feet into the wall.
BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14
Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2;Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f);
Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27;Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
In the West Pit,the 103 dragline was moving E seam overburden.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE—Rule 4.09
Placement, Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization:
The West Taylor Fill and the West Pit Fill were viewed from the ponds below them, and no erosion or
other problems were identified.
