Resource Number: 5RT3259.1
Linear Component Form
DRGW.net
2013 D &RG / D &RGW Standard Gauge Routes. Electronic document, www.drgw.net /info /StandardGuage,
accessed November 22, 2013.
17. Cultural Affiliation and Justification: Historic
IV. Management Recommendations
18. Eligibility of Entire Resource
❑ Eligible ® Not Eligible ❑ Need Data Is this an official determination? ❑ Yes ® No
Remarks / Justification: This railroad spur is the first segment recorded under this site number. It is recommended
not NRHP eligible. The spur is related to the larger Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (5RT1396), originally
the Denver and Salt Lake Railroad which was previously recommended as NRHP - eligible with OAHP concurrence
in 2000. However, this new spur (created in 1962) was not in operation during the larger railway's period of
historical significance (early to mid 1900s).
19. Evaluation of integrity of the segment of the entire linear resource being recorded (Complete only if
"Segment" under item 4 is checked and the entire resource is marked as Eligible under item 18)
❑ Supporting ® Non - supporting ❑ Not applicable
Remarks / Justification: The railroad does retain integrity of location, design, workmanship, and association since it
still serves its historic function of transporting coal for the local mines. However, its integrity of setting, feeling, and
materials have been somewhat compromised by modern upgrades to the railroad itself and in the surrounding
landscape.
20.
