Box 220 Loretta Pineda <br />Fairplay, CO 80440 Director <br />RE: Chaparral Meadows Pit; DRMS File No. M -1984 -101; Notice of Request for Temporary <br />Cessation Status <br />This letter is to inform Counties and Municipalities within two miles of a mining operation of the intent <br />of Hard Rock Paving and Redi -Mix, Inc. to put the above referenced mining operation into a state of <br />temporary cessation. This letter is sent pursuant to the requirement of Rule 1.13.6(1) of the Rules and <br />Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. <br />Please be advised that on November 19, 2013, Hard Rock Paving and Redi -Mix, Inc. whose address is <br />P.O. Box 841, Canon City, Colorado 81215 filed a Notice of Temporary Cessation with the Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) for the Chaparral Meadows Pit. The mining operation is <br />located in approximately 5 miles east of Harstel, Colorado in Township 12 S, Range 74 W, Section 18. <br />The first period of temporary cessation will commence on November 8, 2013 and will last up to five years <br />from that date until November 8, 2018. The notice submitted to the Division contains information <br />pertaining to the reasons for cessation of the mining operation, a plan for resumption, and measures taken <br />to comply with reclamation and other necessary activities related to the performance standards of Rule 3 <br />of the Rules and Regulations in order to maintain the gravel pit in a non - producing or non - development <br />state. <br />The Notice of Temporary Cessation will be placed on the monthly agenda of the January 15 -16, 2014 <br />meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. During that meeting, the Board may consider acceptance <br />of the notice so long as there are no issues with performance or reclamation standards via inspection, file <br />review, and no concerns are expressed by interested persons who would be adversely affected or <br />aggrieved. <br />Please submit written comments regarding this matter to the Division by no later than 5:00pm, January <br />13, 2014. <br />If you need additional information please contact me at (303)866 -3567 x8116. <br />Sincerely, <br />Michael A.
