The letter is
enclosed for your review. Please address the comments noted in the letter, and make
any changes in the application as necessary.
Response: The Colorado Historical Society (CHS) letter dated 17 May 2013 has been
reviewed. CHS makes two comments with respect to the application. UMC has
amended Section 7, Appendix F Other Permits and Licenses to address these
comments as follows.
Comment 1. CHS files for this area are incomplete as most of Colorado has not
yet been inventoried for cultural resources.
UMC's survey of the property (about 20.7 acres) has not identified evidence of
cultural resources on the mill property. UMC commits to notifying CHS of the
discovery of cultural evidence, if such a discovery occurs.
Comment 2. Discovery of human remains.
Should suspected human skeletal remains be discovered, UMC shall comply with
State Law CRS 24 -80 Part 13.
6.3.1 Exhibit A - Legal Description and Location Map
2. The coordinates provided for the primary mine entrance which were provided in Exhibit
A do not match the coordinates which were provided on the Application Form. Please
clarify which coordinates are for the primary mine entrance.
