DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866 -3567
FAX: (303) 832 -8106
November 1, 2013
Daniel Lewis
1271A Castello Ave
STATE OF COLORADO
ee5, , 5
11 1
P4
Fairplay, CO 804400000
Re: Requirement that All Minerals Correspondence be sent to the Denver Office
Dear Permittee:
COLORADO
D I V I S [ON OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) is always looking for ways to be more
efficient in how we serve our customers. A review of our practices has identified inefficiencies that have
developed over time as we have all moved into the electronic age. Since their opening, Division field
offices in Durango and Grand Junction have received and accepted correspondence of all kinds from area
permit holders. During the era of paper filing this practice was effective. However, all documents must
now be imaged and made available to the public through a central process that is completed in the Denver
Office. Furthermore, the Division anticipates electronic permitting to be implemented over the next
several years, which will further centralize how correspondence is submitted and managed. As a result of
these changes it has been determined that correspondence would be more efficiently handled if it were
sent directly to the main office in Denver. Once processed and imaged, staff generally receives your
correspondence electronically the same day it is received and processed in the Denver office.
Therefore, effective immediately, the Division requests that All Minerals Program correspondence
be sent to the Denver Office instead of the Durango or Grand Junction Field Offices. This includes
new applications, revisions, review correspondence, annual reports, etc. Correspondence should
include permit number and be mailed to:
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Attention: Minerals Program
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Please note the change does not affect field office staff or their responsibilities to you in any way so
please continue direct contact with field staff as you always have via phone, e-mail, or office
appointments as needed.
