Name, address and phone number of any other lessees, assigns, agents, etc., and briefly describe their
involvement with the operation, if applicable: None
Ill. PROPERTY OR AREA
Name of claim, if applicable, and the legal land description where the operation will be located.
MC#
Name
Section
Township
Range
22176
Ajax 1
29
8S
78W
22182
Ajax 7
29
BS
78W
IV. DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATION
A. Access. Show on a map (USGS quadrangle map or a National Forest map, for example) the claim
boundaries, if applicable, and all access needs such as roads and trails, on and off the claim. Specify
which Forest Service roads will be used, where maintenance or reconstruction is proposed, and where
new construction is necessary. For new construction, include construction specifications such as widths,
grades, etc., location and size of culverts, describe maintenance plans, and the type and size of vehicles
and equipment that will use the access routes.
ee Plan of Operations dated 9/12/1988, item "C ", p.3 and map attached thereto. Access is on a route comprised
of an existing road which crosses patented claims with the permission of owners (approx. 0.6 mile) and a Forest
Service approved (most recently in 2001) route across National Forest Lands (approx. 1.1 miles). Entry onto the
National Forest Lands is regulated by a locked gate with a USFS lock(s). Access is by 4WD ATVs or a 4WD
pickup truck, not to exceed two vehicles per day, plus an occasional trip with a rubber -tired backhoe for route
maintainence; all subject to restricted use only during dry conditions to minimize disturbance to the surface.
In an area approximately 0.5 miles above the Forest Service gate, as previously described orally and in
hotographs to the Forest Service, it is proposed to abandon a switchback portion of the previously approved route
which traverses a wet (boggy) area and substitute a straighter portion connecting to the existing route. This
change contemplates building up a low area with layers of cobble rock (to permit any water to pass through) to a
maximum thickness of approximately 5 feet. Said layers of cobble rock will then be covered with a layer of 3 inch-
minus rock (same as previously approved for road cover in Forest Service letter of Sept. 17,2002) approximately
ne foot thick, eight feet wide and 15 feet in length. Immediately above the previously described rock work, a
section estimated to be 15 feet in length will be worked with a backhoe to provide a smooth transition to tie into the
existing route above the aforementioned wet area. This area will also be covered with a layer of the 3 inch -minus
rock to a width of approximately eight feet. This whole procedure will eliminate the "working" of the wet area by
vehicles and provide for the restoration of vegetation.
