Stover
2768 Compass Drive, Suite 101
Grand Junction, CO 81506
Dear Mr. Stover:
Roy Romer
Governor
James S. Lochhead
Executive Director
Hal D. Simpson
State Engineer
Kenneth W. Knox
Division Engineer
In your November 22, 1996 letter you request confirmation of Bowie Resources water right(s). This
office administers water rights in accordance with State law on a structure basis. We do not retain
ownership records which means we oversee the delivery of water to the Deer Trail Ditch headgate,
not to an individual or company.
You specifically mentioned one priority in the Deer Trail Ditch, adjudication date 3/20/1954 and
appropriation date of 2/15/1976, for 0.50 cfs. This water right is considered viable and is decreed
for mining and power purposes (ref. Case CA 3503).
Mention is also made of a lease between Coors Company and Bowie Resources Limited. We do not
retain a copy of said lease and are unable to comment further on its validity or application.
Sincerely,
Kenneth W. Knox
Division Engineer
KWK:jk
•
