Liberty Mining, LLC
DRMS 110 -d Permit Application
October 2013
Similarly, should the presence of groundwater in the two monitoring wells be detected, a
sampling program and schedule will be activated. Currently, the monitoring wells are under
quarterly monitoring. One quarter of monitoring has revealed no detectable water in either of
the two wells.
U (7.e) Human Health Considerations and Monitoring
In areas where mine workers congregate regularly (i.e. lunch /wash rooms, storage facilities,
office trailer), the air quality must be monitored at a minimum of every two weeks. If the
monitoring reveals that radioactivity is elevated above the threshold limits, the area must be
ventilated and monitored once a week until five consecutive readings determine that the levels
are below the threshold limits.
During underground operations, mine workers are to follow all MSHA safety regulations in
regards to general underground mine safety and uranium radiation exposure.
U (8) Groundwater Information
Based on current and historical exploration drilling and the construction of two groundwater
monitoring wells, substantial groundwater is not present at the Liberty Mine site from the ground
surface to a maximum depth of 580 feet below ground surface. The geologic setting of the mine
site is not favorable to the presence of groundwater because of limited recharge and the
presence of interbedded, low permeability siltstones and mudstones.
U (9) Groundwater Quality Data
No groundwater was encountered during exploration drilling and during the installation of two
groundwater monitoring wells. The groundwater monitoring wells are to be monitored every
quarter for the next five successive quarters. Any indication of groundwater will be reported to
the Division and all other interested parties.
Upon the presence of retrievable groundwater, the water will be sampled according to USEPA
SW 846 and submitted to a laboratory and sampled for the following parameters:
Metals: Sb, As, Ba, Be, Cd, Cr, Pb, Hg, Mo, Ni, Se, Ag, TI, U, V, Al, B, Co, Li, Ca, Cu, Fe, Mn,
Zn
Hardness
Fluoride
Nitrate, Nitrite, Nitrate /Nitrite
Chloride
Sulfate
Total Phosphorus
Carbonate, Bicarbonate, Alkalinity
pH
Specific Conductance
Total Dissolved Solids
Gross Alpha /Beta and Total Solids
Liberty Mining, LLC Moat), Utah SMA Ref. 5821897 Page 59
