The Thorne and Zevenbergen (1985) method was used to calculate resistance to flow and mean <br />velocity at the channel cross section as described in Section 2.3.2. The method uses decreased Manning's n <br />values with increasing stage, up to bank -full flow, because the features of channel roughness that contribute <br />to energy dissipation will vary with water level, the value of Manning's n also varies with water level. The <br />initial values of Manning's n were calculated using the resistance equations and a d84 bed grain size of 25 <br />mm. The results for the MDS, LDS -E, and LDS -N are summarized in Table 20. The flow, velocity, shear, <br />and Froude number for each stage are shown in Attachment 5. <br />Table 20.
